But the Augusta was no ordinary saloon, being a Lancia it had monocoque construction, independent front suspension, plus an overhead cam V4 engine of 1196cc. The Augusta was successful in track events, and were the chosen transport of several leading Italian racing drivers including Tazio Nuvolari who kept one for several years. WO8978 is a very rare Lancia factory produced drop head cabriolet, designed by Battista "Pinin" Farina, one of his first designs.
